Presentation: Emotional Intelligence in the Classroom (For teachers)

The best predictor of success in any area is not IQ but emotional intelligence (EQ). EQ is the intrapersonal and interpersonal skills that make it possible for us to realise our potential. An inability to regulate emotions is the cause of most behaviour and learning problems. As educators if we want to address the issues that confront us in our school we will need to help children develop their EQ.

In this full day workshop Lidia Genovese (with over 30 years of experience in delivering workshops to professionals) shows teachers how they can enhance the EQ of their students at educational risk as well as those involved in bullying and other destructive forms of behaviour.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the full days training teachers will:

  • Have an awareness of how emotional intelligence is learned;
  • Have learnt ways to enhance the emotional intelligence in their students;
  • Be able to develop self-esteem, positive attitudes, self reflection skills, self-responsibility, self-control and better learning skills in their students;
  • Have a better understanding of how emotional intelligence affects the way their students behave, perform, relate and the success they achieve.
